I've led marketing for a $2B off-road brand and built demand gen from the ground up at three different SaaS companies. I've managed budgets up to $8.5M, led teams of 8+, and owned everything from brand and product marketing to paid media and partnerships. I care about the same thing every CXO does: does the work move the needle.
Being fluent in the tools, not just the strategy, is what lets me move fast. I map the roadmap, then get hands-on — building the martech stack, executing the creative myself when it's faster than briefing someone else, and closing the loop with reporting that tells me what actually worked.
Markets shift, so the playbook can't stay static. I default to the more interesting answer over the easy one — because that's usually where the growth is hiding. It's also just more fun. That combination is why the brands I've touched, from a $2B off-road brand to scrappy SaaS startups, tend to stand out instead of blend in.
I'm not comfortable defaulting to "because we've always done it that way." Most of my career has been building the function from scratch, where there was no playbook to inherit. That forces you to find best practices fast, test new channels before they're obvious, and build the muscle of figuring it out rather than falling back on habit.
I tell my daughters beauty comes from within — I think about messaging the same way. The best communications aren't the loudest, they're the clearest. I lean into visual appeal to earn attention and ruthless simplicity to keep it, which is what lets a message cut through industry clutter instead of adding to it.
Accomplishing something is great. Knowing it actually mattered — and that I got better in the process — is what makes the work stick. But the real driver is my family. My wife and my kids are the reason I care about being great at this, not just good at it.
Life's too short not to have fun — you'll find me off-roading, paintballing, rock climbing, or hiking most weekends.
That carries into how I lead. Fun builds camaraderie, camaraderie keeps the creativity alive, and creativity is contagious across a team.
